Here is a walnut bowl I just finished. I picked up the walnut from the saw mill on Holt Rd in TN. (http://permavations.com/). They have great prices and are very helpful.
My first real time to visit New Orleans and I had a great time. We ate at some great place. The first place we hit after checking in was the Erin Rose.
It became a headquarters for us to meet because of it’s central location and great drinks.
We had some oysters at Felix’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar.
Then we had dinner at Luke.
The next day we hit Johnny’s Po Boys for breakfast. It was the best bread on a sub I had ever had. I think it came from Dong Phuong.
While on our treck to get to Coops Place we made a few stops.
We hit Tujague’s Restaurant for a grasshopper. The origin or the drink.
We got to Coops and it was packed. SO much so that we decided to try agin on Sunday before we left.
After that it was muffaletta at Central Grocery. Indeed the best I’ve ever had.
On to Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop for some drinks,
then to Borgne for dinner. I will definitely be back.
We hit the last performance at Preservation Hall. It was an pilgrimage like experience. Sort of like hitting the Ryman for the first time. Hands down the highlight of the trip.
Next morning it was off to get beignets and coffee. Cafe DuMonde was too packed so I went to the place across the park from it that I can’t remember the name of.
They were good.
We finally hit coops place
then the WW2 museum. It is a great visit and I highly recommend it to anyone making a trip to NOLA. I loved the galleries and the movie, but I would skip the sub simulation, but hit the Boeing exhibit. Being so up close to the aircraft was incredible.
Since we were so close and I had heard great things about it, be hit the Couchon Butcher, where I just about lost my mind.

Back to Nashville after that, but I will definitely be back.
I got a new John Jordan set of small hollow tools. As you can see, I’m still learning to use them.
